Brachychiton acerifolius (formerly Sterculia acerifolia) - Australian Flame Tree
- Medium growing deciduous to semi-deciduous tree. Often one part of the tree will lose its leaves.
- Blooms in spring or summer, very bright orange red flowers, usually on branches where leaves have dropped. Large, canoe-shaped seed pods appear after bloom cycle.
- Leaves are very large and glossy green.
- Requires little to moderate water once established, loves heat and full sun.
