Recycle Those Plant Containers

Here at Evergreen, recycling has always been a part of our business plan. It was a part of our business plan way before it became politically correct and before everyone talked about ‘green’ this and ‘green’ that. One of the ways we recycle is by reusing plastic containers and the boxes we plant our trees in. So, next time you consider looking around for some garden products, remember, check your garage or out in the back and bring us those hard plastic containers. We’ll issue you a store credit for one gallon, five gallon, and fifteen gallon containers in usable condition. Bring in your boxes if you had a boxed tree planted.

Also, at our Oceanside and Carmel Valley facilities, we have an extensive green waste recycling program. So, when yard trimmings show up around your yard, have your gardener bring them to us, or bring them yourself in the back of your pickup truck if you have one. Or, better yet, hire the kid next door, he’s probably out of work and he probably needs a few extra bucks to buy gas if any of us can still afford gas.

When you bring your green waste to Evergreen, we’ll grind it up and use it in our soil media or make soil products for you to replant your yard. Or perhaps you might want to consider using fine groundcover mulch in a couple inch layer over the ground in an effort to keep the weeds from growing and maintain the moisture for your plants. You can conserve considerable amounts of precious water just by providing a mulch layer for all the open areas of your landscaping.
