Gardenia jasminoides 'Frostproof'
The Frost Proof Gardenia gets its name because of its frost hardiness. It will hold its blooms after a frost! The Frost Proof Gardenia is also much more insect resistant than older varieties. The flowers on this gardenia are white to cream colored (as the flower fades it turns a more yellowish hue) and highly fragrant. The Frost Proof begins blooming in the spring, and with the right care and conditions it will continue to bloom throughout the summer and even into the fall. The foliage is another plus. Frost Proof is an evergreen gardenia, which means it retains its glossy green leaves throughout the winter and can tolerate more sun then the older varieties.
