Magnolia grandiflora 'D.D. Blanchard' - D.D. Blanchard Southern Magnolia

D.D. Blanchard Southern Magnolia is an upright broadleaf evergreen tree prized for its extra-large, highly fragrant white flowers. The cup-shaped, 8-inch flowers bloom in spring and summer and have a fragrance reminiscent of lemons. Large leaves are dark green with velvety, copper-toned undersides. The tree maintains a straight trunk and can reach a height of 75 feet with an open-branched, pyramid shaped crown, making it an excellent shade tree for summer. Flowers give way to large brown cone-like seedpods with bright red berries, adding extra interest for fall and winter. D.D. Blanchard Southern Magnolia grows well in full sun to partial shade and requires a moderate amount of water.
