Quercus suber - Cork Oak
Cork Oak is a medium to large evergreen tree native to southern Europe and Northern Africa that may reach a height of 70 feet. It is the source of cork for wine bottles and other uses. Bark is light green or gray and fissured. Leaves are dark green with silvery undersides. An abundance of brown acorns appears in fall and winter. Cork Oak does well in full sun to partial shade with moist to dry soil. It is also drought tolerant and fire resistant.
